About me

PSYCHIATRIST

Alberto Rodríguez Quiroga

Graduated in Medicine for the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid in 2009 and specialist in Psychiatry by Specialized Training in Health through MIR in 2014.

I have extensive experience in the field of Psychiatry and Mental Health, having continued my training over the years with the aim of integrating the latest scientific knowledge in relation to mental illness. In the more than ten years now that I have been practicing the profession, I have attended people who consulted for different problems, which has allowed me to understand the process of falling ill in a longitudinal way, avoiding cross-sectional diagnoses, as well as labels. My purpose is, therefore, not only to help solve a problem that appears suddenly or acutely in people's lives, but to try to integrate a model of knowledge that allows a global understanding of the problem, which also implies understanding why the problem appears in a specific time. The main objective would be for the person to develop different coping strategies and carry out personal introspection that delves into self-knowledge and looks for lasting solutions that can be sustained over time.

For these reasons, I understood that I needed to complement my medical training with a training in psychotherapy, as a method that allows to implement changes in the repetitive behaviour patterns of people's lives. For this reason, I completed my training in this field by completing a Master in Integrative Psychotherapy, taught by the University of Alcalá de Henares between 2012 and 2014.

I also have specific training and experience in the field of Forensic Psychiatry and the preparation of expert reports.

Interested in the problems of children and adolescents, I have dedicated a large part of my professional activity to treating problems that arise in adolescence, a stage of change in which there is a greater vulnerability to suffer from problems related to Mental Health. Specifically, I have extensive experience in people with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, as well as in problems of anxiety, phobias or depression. In this sense, I have received accreditation through the CEU through the Master in Updating of Psychiatric Treatments in Minor Patients, as well as through the completion of various Expert courses in the field of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.

Understanding that disorders related to depression are very prevalent in our society, I have decided to specialize through the Title of Expert in Affective Disorders (Neurobiology, Diagnosis and Treatment) granted by the University of Alcalá de Henares in 2019, especially with the aim of achieve full functional recovery after a depressive episode.

Finally, as a result of my clinical experience, based on the observation of numerous people, questions have arisen in me that, unfortunately, due to the current state of knowledge, have not been able to be answered. That is why I have always shown special interest in clinical research, as a way to contribute to the development of science and understanding of the mechanisms involved not only in the mental disorders, but also in protective and resilience factors.
